Establishment and History of Sunway University:

Sunway University was established as "Sunway University College" in 2004. It was upgraded to full university status as "Sunway University" in January 2011 by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. It is part of the Sunway Education Group, which is owned by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation. This not-for-profit charitable foundation ensures that all surpluses are reinvested into scholarships, research, and improvements in its educational institutions. The university is known for its Latin motto "Fortuna Eruditis Favet," which means "Fortune Favours the Prepared Mind."

Sunway University is located in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. It is an integral part of Sunway City, a thriving resort city built on former tin mining land.
